Maintain Infection Prevention Treatments Outlines

The Maintain Infection Prevention Treatments Course contextualises and reflects upon specific workplace infection risks hazards, and assorted Infection Prevention and Control practices related to specific workplace policies and procedures.

This course describes the skills and knowledge required from healthcare workers to comply with regulations, standards guidelines, and policy procedures and to identify manage, and control risk to the client operators and other healthcare workers.

This course allows you to provide high-risk personal appearance services including body tattoos body piercing and permanent makeup in accordance with the Public Health (Infection Prevention and Control for Personal Appearance Service) Act 2012 successful completion of this course you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. 

Licensing Requirements

This single-unit course allows you to provide high-risk personal appearance services including body tattoo piercing and permanent makeup in accordance with the Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearance Act 2012.)

Performance Evidence

The candidate must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks, and manage contingencies in the context of the job role. There must be evidence that the candidate has:

Integrated the maintenance of infection control within skin penetration technical skills that individually or in combination demonstrate:

Identification of potential cross-contamination risks, protecting self and client from infection risks choosing and using appropriate cleaning, disinfection, and sterilising procedures for instruments, equipment, and equipment attachments and work services use of correct steriliser operation procedures: 

• packaging of item
• loading
• monitoring
• validation
• calibration
• documentation requirements
• disposing of wastes and sharps

Provided a written review of workplace compliance with relevant state territory and local council laws, regulations, and requirements for skin penetration treatments.

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate the essential knowledge required to effectively complete tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks, and manage contingencies in the context of the work role.
